“Meanwhile with Ed and Benjamin…” I tried to do a contrast piece here, with a somewhat photo real bear contrasting with Ed and Benjamin in the second panel. It worked in theory, but I’m not too sure if it works in this strip…maybe I’ve just looked at it too long.
An Explanation!
Sooooo…there has been a lot of confusion about this current arc with August and Lola, and rightly so. To explain things for those who have been confused, at first I was planning on having a love interest for August early on in the strip–the nameless blond girl introduced a long while back. This was fine until I started doing strips about my real life with my wife and I (the semi-true tales–those strips are totally separate from the “Pajama Forest universe” they’re glimpses into my life, basically just a fun break in between the PJF arcs).
It got a little confusing for some people because I draw August quite like myself in the strips, and since my wife is blond in the comic it’d make matters even more confusing if August was to be dating a blond girl in the PJF story. So nameless blond girl in August’s life became a brunette, Lola.So, long story short: August is a fictional character in Pajama Forest, he’s not married and seems to have commitment issues or something. Evan, is real (that’s me, the cartoonist) he’s married and he and his wife show up in “Semi-True Tales” from time to time, separate and apart from any PJF stories.
In future strips, I’ll try and make the distinction between Semi-True Tales and the PJF story more clear because I know it’s confusing to a lot of people. For the sake of people reading through the archives I’ve gone ahead and redone many of the previous strips. As a special treat, in addition to the regular updates I’ll be uploading one “Digitally Remastered” strip every weekday until they’re all replaced :D
